Make
sure you have an entry stamp in your passport before you leave
the airport terminal as you enter the country, as you will
need this stamp to leave the country. This stamp will also
detail how long you are permitted to stay in the country.
On arrival
may also be requested to provide evidence of your length of
stay in Nicaragua, so make sure you have your return ticket
to hand. In addition they may also request evidence of how
you will afford to stay in Nicaragua, so provide evidence
of how you plan to support yourself with cash, traveler’s
cheques and/or credit cards.
When you
arrive in Nicaragua you will most likely arrive in the capital
Managua. Managua really is the central hub of transport for
the country as from here you can get public
transport out to other parts of the country, get a hire
care or even take a domestic flight to other domestic airports.
As a word of advice, if
you are not a keen flyer then we wouldn’t advise taking
the local domestic flights. Although a lot quicker than buses
and general travel via road, the flights have been called
Category 2 flights meaning that there is minimal safety equipment,
minimal security, poor quality air strips (often part field,
part runway dirt tracks) and small baggage weight limits.
