Nicaragua Electric Price Rises

The Nicaraguan government has agreed let the main electric company that provides electric to most of Nicaragua increase their prices of electricity by a little over 9%. Nicaragua Food Prices Rise

The price for a bag of beans has risen by approximately 100%, doubling in price in Nicaragua over the past weeks. The price hike has been in due of course of the recent category-5 Hurricane Felix that devastated the North of the country a few months ago, as well as a drought earlier in the year and the recent rainfalls that have also affected other Central American countries. Nicaragua Heading in Wrong Direction?

According to a poll by CIP-Gallup, published in La Prensa, Nicaraguans currently don’t believe that Ortega is steering the country in the right direction with 63% of the respondents saying that they thought he was taking them in the wrong direction, whilst 12% had no opinion and 25% thought it was the right direction.
