Little Corn Beach and Bungalow

A rustic treasure hidden away on one of the Caribbean's most isolated spots.

Amazingly close and incredibly inexpensive, Little Corn Island (About 2 miles long and at its widest 1 mile) is a little known, practically untouched by tourism, “Tropical Island Paradise”! No cars, motorcycles, golf carts or airport have kept this little island one of the best kept secrets in the world. The island electric generator runs from about 2pm to 6am, and dirt paths connect various parts of the island. This is your chance to be one of the few who have ventured here and experienced the wonderful nature of this little island and its inhabitants. Situated right on the beach, on the windward side of Little Corn, Little Corn Beach and Bungalow offers 8 cozy cabins, each with en-suite bathroom, quality clean white linens, mosquito nets, soft bath towels, bathroom mats, mirrors, electricity with multiple outlets (from about 11:30am to around 5:00am) and running water.

All bungalows are equipped with fans, a footwash at the base of the stairs, sand-catching floor mats, towels to clean your feet, and brooms and dust pans (don’t worry though – that does not mean to say that there is not a full maid service as well!). Little Corn Beach & Bungalow is currently the only resort on Little Corn that offers free Satellite WiFi in the cabins. All cabins have French doors that open on to a 4’ by 14’ covered veranda. Each of the cabins has a beautiful view of the beach and the ocean. Little Corn Island is extremely remote, and takes some getting to, with a flight from Managua to neighboring Big Corn Island, and then a 30 minute “panga” ride across the Caribbean Sea to the leeward side of Little Corn. You will be met by a guide with a wheelbarrow (the only method of transport on Little Corn!) who will walk you 15 minutes across the island to the hotel. This is DEFINITELY not for everyone – but those who make the journey will find an eco-friendly resort on a wonderful remote tropical island that is doing its best to provide relative comfort, good service, good food and drink and good value at a reasonable price. The stylish bistro type restaurant is unlike any other on the island. Comfortably lit, with a music mix that fits the time of day, the bamboo dining tables sit on either the restaurant deck 3 feet above the beach or right on the beach at the waters edge. You can expect quality service, excellent food and a friendly greeting from one of the Nicaraguan service staff. Apart from relaxing and indulging in Robinson Crusoe fantasies, Little Corn offers some of the best diving and fishing in Central America. Easy access, clear water, minimal currents and interesting healthy flora and fauna make Little Corn a great dive destination with two quality dive shops who can help you set up your dive for a reasonable price. One of the many reasons people come to Little Corn is for the wonderful sport fishing. Offshore, you can go after Amberjacks, Sailfish, Barracuda, Dorado (Mahi Mahi) and Snapper just to name a few.  Little Corn Beach & Bungalow use only local fishing captains, some of whom have been fishing their home waters for as long as 40 years. The onshore fly fishing is also wonderful on Little Corn. Bring your own equipment and test your skills looking for Bonefish, Tarpon, Snook and the occasional small shark among others. To sum up this place, please see our Top 10 Reasons for Visiting Little Corn below:

6.    You don’t mind that the islanders call a Geco an “Alligator” and instead of  “hello”, you say “okay” and they respond “alright”.

8.    It is okay with you that your boss might not be able to contact you while you are on your vacation.
